Nominating area or unit: Shiyan Wudang Mountain Tourism Special Economic Zone

Wudang Mountain Temple Fair is a folk custom activity evolved from the unique pilgrimage activities of believers, which is popular in Wudang Mountain area of Shiyan City. The temple fair is held twice every two years (calculated according to the lunar calendar), from the 23rd of the lunar month to the 16th of March of the next year, and from the first day of September to the tenth day of September of the following year. Among them, the temple fair on March 3rd and September 9th is the most grand.

Wudang Mountain Temple Fair started in the late Eastern Han Dynasty, flourished in the Song Dynasty and flourished in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and its main activities include pilgrimage to the mountains, making religious rites, and holding folk art activities. There are three forms of pilgrimage to the mountain. One is the pilgrimage meeting, the other is the ascetic pilgrimage of Taoist believers, and the third is the pilgrimage. Wudang Taoism Center mainly does the ceremonies of the Xiaoqi Dynasty and the Daqi Dynasty. It takes one day for the Xiaoqi Dynasty and three days for the Daqi Dynasty. During the temple fair, people can participate in activities such as hiking, watching lights, visiting Wudang Wushu Challenge Arena, and watching fireworks.
Wudang Mountain Temple Fair is the epitome of local folk life. It greatly enriches the cultural life of the local people, and has high folklore and historical and cultural research value.
