Zhangwan District



Zhangwan District is under the jurisdiction of Shiyan City, Hubei Province. It is located along the Duhe River and the Hanshui River. It is the core water source area of the Middle Route of the National South-to-North Water Diversion Project, the birthplace of China’s second automobile work, and home to the headquarter of Dongfeng Commercial Vehicle. The district is known as China’s “truck capital,” and ranks the largest economy in Shiyan City. It has jurisdiction over 2 villages, 2 townships, 4 sub-districts, 1 provincial economic development zone and 1 industrial new district. It covers an area of 657 square kilometers and has a total population of 433,000. Many railways and highways, including Wuhan-Shiyan High-speed Railway, Hubei-Chongqing Railway, National Highway 316, National Highway 209, and Yinchuan-Wuhan Highway. The tourist attractions include Dongfeng Automobile Industry Tourism Zone, Sifang Mountain Ecological Park, and Huanglongtan Industrial Ecological Tourism Zone.   

Zhangwan District is located in the middle of Shiyan City, Hubei Province. It borders Qingshan Township in Yunyang District, Yuanyang Township and Wuyan Sub-district and Eryan Sub-district in the east, Baoxia Township and Yeda Township in Yunyang District in the west, Damuchang Township in Fangxian County and Dachuan Township in Maojian District in the south, and Wufeng Township, Liupi Township and Chadian Township in Yunyang District in the north. It is located between 110°26 '- 110°57' east longitude and 32°23 '- 32°47' north latitude. Its east-west maximum linear distance is 38 kilometers, and north-south 34 kilometers.
  
Zhangwan District has a subtropical continental monsoon climate with four distinct seasons, long winter and summer, and short spring and autumn. In spring, the temperature rises fast with sharp temperature changes. In summer, it rains a lot and remains hot with uneven precipitation. In autumn, it cools down rapidly with continuous rain. In winter, there are seldom extremely cold days. The terrain is complex and the three-dimensional climate is obvious.
  
Zhangwan District has many scenic spots, such as Dongfeng Automobile Industry Tourism Zone, Sifang Mountain Ecological Park, Huanglongtan Industrial Ecological Tourism Zone, Niutou Mountain National Forest Park, Longquan Temple Tourism Zone, Shiyan People’s Park, Daxigou Ecological Tourism Zone, Bailongtan Tourism Zone, Baima Mountain Tourism Zone, and Huanglong Ecological Agriculture Demonstration Park.
  
In 2017, Zhangwan District was awarded the honors of National Traditional Intellectual Property Protection Demonstration Pilot Area, National Pilot Area of Building Powerful County with Intellectual Property Development, Typical County of National Key Ecological Functional Area County Ecological Environment Quality Monitoring, Evaluation and Assessment, and provincial-level well preserved ecological area. In 2018, a national wetland park was successfully established. In 2019, Zhangwan District was awarded the title of national “generally improved” county in key ecological functions. In 2020, the district ranked first in provincial-level civilization index evaluation.
