Wudang Divine Drama

Wudang Divine Drama was developed from Danjiangkou City, Shiyan City. It is called Divine Drama, but it is not a complete religious activity, but a popular folk drama. As one of the national intangible cultural heritages, this kind of drama has been evolved by the Wang family of Qingtang Village, Xijiadian Town, Danjiangkou City, Shiyan City, on the basis of absorbing Wudang culture, local folk operas and folk songs. It belongs to the family inheritance drama.
It is said that the Wang family has loved opera for generations, listened to it well and raised troupes. In the fourth year since the dawn of tomorrow, Wang Mingfeng's sons have introduced "Diaozi Opera" into the Wang family and transferred it from generation to generation. Because Qingtang Village is one of the distribution centers of Shinto pilgrims in the north of Wudang Mountain and one of the logistics material bases for Wudang Taoist buildings. As a result, the Diaozi Opera gradually evolved into a "God worship Opera" serving the Taoist activities in Wudang Mountain, integrating Taoist music and cultural elements, and constantly absorbing the music nutrition of Bachazi Opera and folk songs, so that it eventually evolved into a Wudang God Opera in Qingtang Village.

The performance form of Wudang Divine Drama is mainly accompanied by gongs and drums, including two tunes (new tunes and old tunes) and five tunes (tight octave tune, slow octave tune, second rate tune, lahua tune, and selling cuihua tune). The musical instruments include gongs, drums, side drums, and suona with sheng.
At present, there are more than 110 dramas in Wudang, among which, the tunes of the dramas include "Things in the Sky", "Han Xiangzi Huazhai", etc; Local operas include South Bridge Club, Liu Hai Chops the Woodcutter, Yin Yang Mistakes, etc; Bacha Opera includes "Sending Fragrant Tea", "Four Persuasions", etc. These plays have strong local characteristics, profound artistic conception, and are graceful and beautiful. They are unique folk cultural and artistic wealth at the foot of Wudang Mountain.
Since the development of Wudang Divine Drama, its application scenario has not only been in the formal Taoist worship and sacrifice activities, but also in other religious activities such as pilgrims' praise of gods, praying for blessings and wishes, and even guild activities. Wudang Divine Drama has played a positive role in strengthening the cultural connotation of Shiyan, developing cultural tourism and improving the popularity.
