Qixi Festival

七夕节

Qixi Festival (Yunxi Qixi), the traditional folk custom of Yunxi County, Shiyan City, is one of the national intangible cultural heritage.
Yunxi Qixi culture is a local traditional culture based on the legend of the cowherd and the weaver girl, with loyalty and love as the main line, with begging and praying as the token, with physical remains as the carrier, and Yunxi Tianhe as the symbol, including rich content of story legends, physical remains, Qixi folk customs, etc.
If we want to say that the "Qixi Festival" is inherited in Yunxi, we can't get around the Tianhe River, which winds from north to south on the land of Yunxi. It is the prototype of the faraway silver man that the Cowherd and the Weaver Maid met on the Magpie Bridge.
According to historical records, Yunxi is "the place where all the immortals are handed down from generation to generation". Yunxi has not only the real name of "Tianhe", but also the real name of "Yinhe". In the west of Hejia Town, there is a river called the Milky Way. This river is parallel to the "Tianhe River" and runs vertically south to the Guixian River and flows into the Han River. On the star chart, the two sides of the Milky Way from north to south are Vega in the west and Altair in the east. In addition, the unique Niulang Mountain and Zhinv Mountain in Yunxi, such rivers and landforms echo the stars from afar, and the ancient love stories are born in the echo of the heaven and the earth, circulating in the vast world.
For thousands of years, civilization has multiplied and spread in this land. Local cultural customs and folklore have provided Yunxi with unique cultural elements for the formation, enrichment and perfection of the story of cowherd and weaver girl on Qixi. The traditional folk custom of Yunxi County is one of the national intangible cultural heritages.

七夕节

"Please the Seventh Sister" is the main ceremony of Yunxi Qixi, which invites the goddess represented by the Weaver Maid to ask her about Nian Cheng, fortune, marriage and skill through three links of "Please", "Ask" and "Send". In addition, men carry water to "fill seven waters", women "compete with skilled workers and cook skillfully", girls "dye nails", the elderly "watch the stars", young men and girls "listen to night talk under the vine", and the heads of the family "put out river lanterns" and other activities for praying and begging.
Today, Yunxi people, with the hope of breaking through the barrier between Yinhan and Tianhe, are also full of good wishes for "lovers get married". While inheriting and carrying forward the Qixi culture, they are also offering endless cultural praise to Yunxi, Shiyan and even the whole country.
