Nominating area or unit: Danjiangkou City

Wujiagou Village is an administrative village in Liuliping Town, west of Danjiangkou City, Hubei Province. Adjacent to the Danjiang Reservoir Area, it is known as "nine ditches and eighteen depressions, one hundred single eight bifurcations, and there are people at the bifurcations". Wujiagou folktales are complete in variety and rich in content. They are divided into six categories: myth, legend, story, fable, fairy tale and joke. The first and second episodes of Wujiagou Villagers' Tales have been published, totaling 760000 words. In the 1980s, more than 1000 folk stories

and more than 1000 folk songs were found in Wujiagou Village, which was named "Folk Story Village" by Hubei Folk Artists Association.
The inheritance of Wujiagou folk stories is as famous as Geng Village in Hebei Province. There is a saying in the folk literature and art circles that "Geng Village is in the north, and Wujiagou Village is in the south". Wujiagou is located in the folds of Wudang Mountain, which is relatively closed, so there are many original works, such as the legend of Wudang Mountain, the legend of Chen Shimei and the local legend, which are unique "local products". These legends have a long history. For example, the myth of "Man and Dog Get Married" was first found in the story of Wujiagou, from which we can see the situation of wildfires in primitive society and some tribes with dogs as their totem; "Digging off the Post" conveys the information about the worship of reproduction; The legend that Li Zicheng went to Wudang Mountain is unheard of in other regions; Although the Scholar of Qin Dynasty Dies Today is a contemporary work, its strong traditional color is to understand the development of stories in this area. The folk tales in Wujiagou are so lively that some local elderly still regard fantasy stories such as "Lin Family Village Encountered with a Ghost", "The Fox Steals the Chicken", and "Eating Eggs to Crush the Shell" as real stories. The narrators are vivid and the listeners are full of interest. This makes the inheritance of the cultural expression forms of these stories have a strong mass character.
