Wang Shizhen, born in Taicang, Jiangsu Province, is also known as Fengzhou and Yanzhou Shanren. He was a famous bibliophile, litterateur, historian and drama theorist in the Ming Dynasty.
This literary leader was born in an official family. According to historical data, Wang Shizhen's great grandfather went to the Nanjing War Department as a right handyman, and his father went to the War Department as a secretary. Wang Shizhen has shown extraordinary talent since he was young. He is intelligent, clever and unforgettable. The family has accumulated a large number of books, so that he has received excellent cultural influence since he was young.
Although Wang Shizhen was born into an official family, she does not belong to the official circles. His official career was full of ups and downs because of his unyielding and obsequious scholar temperament. In his 43 years of official career, he spent 21 years at home.
It was not until September of the second year of Wanli (1574) that Wang Shizhen was promoted from the minister of Taipu Temple to the senior official of the right deputy capital, who started his way of governing Yunyang by supervising military affairs and governing Yunyang. During his tenure, he wrote more than 300 poems, travel notes and poems for Yunyang, Junzhou, Hanshui and Wudang Mountain, which is the peak of Yunyang and Wudang poetry.
Wang Shizhen served as the governor of Yunyang for only over a year, but she left a good story on the bank of the Han River.
He attached importance to military affairs and made local troops self-sufficient; He attached importance to culture, paid money to buy hundreds of volumes of books, bought Qingmei Hall, experienced archival affairs, and created the first public library in Yunyang history; He attached great importance to education and was a promoter of Yunyang's cultural and educational undertakings. He attached great importance to people's livelihood and was always concerned about the sufferings of Yunyang people.
He took a series of measures, such as impeaching corruption, consulting and visiting generals, clearing up farmland, promoting water conservancy, and initiating the practice of saving money through storage, to make Yunyang, a small mountain town, a famous town in the central and southern regions.
