Yang Xianzhen, a Marxist theorist and educator

"The sound of the October Revolution sent us Marxism Leninism." - At the end of the 19th century, China's "dark old age" ushered in the spark of Marxism, like the "Prometheus" who stole the sky fire, taking the lead in cutting through the thorns in a wilderness, spreading the light of hope, and nurturing a large number of outstanding communists.
Yang Xianzhen is a famous Marxist philosopher, theorist and educator from Shiyan. He studied in Shiyan No. 8 High School (now Shiyan Yunyang Middle School). In November 1926, he joined the CPC and participated in revolutionary work. He graduated from the National Wuchang Commercial School, and was the former Secretary and President of the CPC Central Committee's Senior Party School, and a member of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
As an early communist revolutionary, Yang Xianzhen experienced the severe test of a long-term revolutionary struggle and was captured by the enemy twice in 1927 and 1931. In prison, in the face of the cruel persecution of the enemy, he looked at death as if he were going home, and never reneged. He not only led the comrades to set up the Party branch and the Red Party School in prison, but also determined to "carry the red flag to get out of prison"; He also volunteered to take care of his sick friends, so that many comrades gradually got out of danger. During this period, he completed the translation of many classic works such as the Communist Manifesto, Materialism and Empirical Criticism, and the Three Sources and Three Components of Marxism. It was his unyielding revolutionary spirit that encouraged the revolutionaries in danger, strengthened their communist belief and raised the level of Marxism Leninism.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yang Xianzhen has long been committed to the Marxist education of the Communist Party cadres, and has written books such as What is Materialism and the Interpretation of Materialism and Empirical Criticism, making profound and outstanding contributions to the sinicization of Marxism.
On August 25, 1992, Yang Xianzhen died in Beijing. He spent his whole life fulfilling his promise: "Write your history in red!"
